5 Acre Touring Garden ...cuz we're on 5 acres and it's all garden, right?
We love to share our garden! Stroll through our garden at your leisure and enjoy discoveries around each corner. Gardens are ever evolving and ours is no exception. Some areas will be well established, others newly planted and still others lying in wait for the planting to begin.
The vegetable garden provides us with generous variety of fresh produce right through December most years. We like to share our surplus crop with you. Fresh produce is for sale from the garden as available.
The butterfly garden area is especially busy on those hot, sunny summer days! With milkweeds of many varieties growing somewhat freely all over our land, we have dedicated this garden to plants that provide food and shelter for both larvae and butterflies. We are adding additional stands of native plants to attract wildlife and bees in particular.
There is a treasure of an alvar garden behind the house. Planted in this demonstration garden is a selection of native plants found in these very specific environments. Many of these plants are rare and and found on the Bruce Peninsula. All of our native plants are nursery grown with passion!
Day lilies are featured through out the entire garden. The display rows in the main garden are planted for easy access, but if you're a collector, you'll want to stroll through our propagating field behind the greenhouses. If you can snag Judy she'll be more than happy to join you out there! Usually the peak bloom time in our garden is early to mid July...depending on Mother Nature!
Consider this our invitation to come and visit our garden. Sit, breathe in the fresh air. Listen to bird song, lazy bug buzzing, and the rustle of leaves and grasses in the wind. Smell the flowers. Frog spot by the pond. Read a book. Heck you can even play hide and seek in the pathways (carefully!) - we just want you to forget life's hardships and let the garden bring you life!
